another, you have probably been crossing the street or walking through a parking lot and out of nowhere comes a car.\u00a0 What&#8217;s different is that it didn&#8217;t come roaring at you but rather it snuck up on you, sidled right on up next to you without you noticing.\u00a0 Then you realize it&#8217;s a hybrid or maybe even a fully electric <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miniusa.com\/learn-mini-e.html#\/learn\/minimalism\/MINIE-m\" target=\"_blank\">Mini E<\/a> or a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teslamotors.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tesla<\/a> (not likely but possible).\u00a0 This is where <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.warwick.ac.uk\/fac\/sci\/wmg\/research\/experiential\/projects\/major\/appraise\/elvin_the_ev\/evaluation\/\" target=\"_blank\">elvin<\/a> comes in&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Engineers at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.warwick.ac.uk\/fac\/sci\/wmg\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of Warwick<\/a> created <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.warwick.ac.uk\/fac\/sci\/wmg\/research\/experiential\/projects\/major\/appraise\/elvin_the_ev\/evaluation\/\" target=\"_blank\">elvin<\/a> to  experiment with sounds for electric vehicles.\u00a0 On the one hand, since hybrid\/electric cars are quiet at low speeds, as they become more popular there could be a significant reduction in environmental traffic noise levels.\u00a0 On the other hand, sound from vehicles can alert pedestrians or cyclists of oncoming traffic.\u00a0 Also, the sound a particular car makes or doesn&#8217;t make also adds to the branding and buyer&#8217;s perception of a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.warwick.ac.uk\/fac\/sci\/wmg\/research\/experiential\/projects\/major\/appraise\/elvin_the_ev\/evaluation\/\"
